Subtlety is certainly not a particularly strong suit of Suzie Wong.
In actuality, the only subtle element of the vibrant and boisterous bar is its rather clandestine entrance — a neighbourhood wonton stall that serves as a camouflage of sorts.
Inside, you’ll find a glamorous hidden speakeasy bar that won’t feel out of place in a vintage Hong Kong film. The bar is inspired by the aesthetics of the early 1950s of old Lan Kwai Fong. Its interior, decorated by various Chinese elements of yesteryear will make you feel like you’re in an old Hong Kong setting.
Moreover, waitresses clad in cheongsams, leather lounge sofas, and birdcage chandeliers all work in tandem to enhance the atmosphere of the bar. Plus, the nightly live jazz and cabaret performances offer you the chance to live your moulin rouge dream.
All that, in addition to its tropical and oriental-inspired cocktail menu, makes Suzie Wong one of Kuala Lumpur’s best premium (hidden) bars.
