WHAT: Puyallup River Watershed Council Forum
WHEN: Wed., March 26, from 5-7pm
WHERE: Sumner City Hall Council Chambers
This Forum will focus on activities of the Puget Sound Partnership, South Central Puget Sound Action Area (that includes WRIA 10 and the Puyallup watershed) and an update on Clarks Creek Watershed activities. Highlights follow:
(1) Dan Wrye, Watershed Services Section Manager, Pierce County Water Programs and South Sound Ecosystem Coordination Board Representative, will give a presentation on the Puget Sound Partnership and the development of the 2020 Action Agenda for Puget Sound. The Puyallup Watershed (and WRIA 10) are part of the South Central Puget Sound Action Area. Dan will discuss work going on with the South Puget Sound Core Group, including ecosystem health issues (status and thrests), existing programs, and development of an inlet-watershed based phase 1 report. The Action Agenda is scheduled to be completed by December 1, 2008.
(2) We will have a follow-up discussion on several questions, including: (a) How can the PRWC and member groups participate in the Puget Sound Partnership process to ensure the Action Agenda adequately addresses priorities in the Puyallup (WRIA 10) watershed? (b) What is the timeframe for development of the Action Agenda? and (c) How can we work most effectively with watershed groups in WRIAs 8 and 9 to coordinate efforts in the South Central Puget Sound Action Area?
(3) Status and Update on Clarks Creek Watershed Activities - Ann Coon (Friends of Clarks Creek), Linda Ellefson (citizen of Puyallup) (Deadman's Pond), Mark Higginson with the City of Puyallup (WSU-Puyallup Stormwater Retrofit Project) and Cindy James (Clarks Creek TMDL) will give updates on recent activities in the Clarks Creek watershed.
There will also be opportunities for public input.
